The Project

The Hogmanay celebrations that took place around Scotland in 2013/14 were some of the most spectacular ever seen. We supplied lighting equipment to the three key celebration locations: Edinburgh, Stirling and Inverness. In the capital, we supplied equipment to every one of the numerous Hogmanay stages that provide entertainment to the world-famous Street Party. Our main focus was, however, on ‘The Keilidh’ and ‘Rewinder’ stages, where revellers danced through the night. We also lit up the National Monument – the location for the traditional Torchlight Procession, which launches the 3-day celebrations (for which we also supplied lighting and production support).

A major part of the Hogmanay celebrations were the ‘Homecoming Hogmanay’ events. We supplied the “Super Big” lights needed to bring this spectacular vision to life in Edinburgh, Stirling and Inverness, creating ‘Saltires in the Sky’ across the country.

Key Challenges

The key challenges that our team overcame in this project included tight deadlines and the logistical challenge of getting significant amounts of kit to multiple locations at a busy time of the year. At all of the locations, our team also had to deal with the challenge of working in and around some of Scotland’s most important historic monuments.
