The Project

“We’ll tak a cup o’ Kindness yet” is a free to view installation by arts collective Open Close.  Inspired by the idea that every small act of kindness is connected to another like it: a constellation of moments sparking new acts along the way. The Audience are invited to take part by adding their own act of kindness to the map and sharing a photo on social media.

The installation forms part of the wider “Burns and Beyond” festival in Edinburgh new for 2019, celebrating the work and life of Robert Burns in some of the capitals most well-known buildings and spaces.

Experience

We continued our relationship with Open Close by collaborating with artists Tamsin Ghislaine and Eileen Hall to provide the lighting effects for the installation.  The specification called for fixtures suitable to be installed outdoors and exposed to the elements for the duration of the week long event, which we were able to provide from our rental stock.

Key Project Steps

  • Specification of suitable fixtures
  • Site visit and demonstration
  • Semi-permanent installation
  • Regular checks & onsite maintenance
  • Removal

Client Feedback

“We have worked with Black Light on a number of projects and have always enjoyed their professional and organised manner of helping us with our creative needs. They have been quick to respond to our queries and have been very willing to go the extra mile to find solutions to lighting questions. We would recommend this team to anyone.” Eileen Hall, Creative Director
